But unlike Sri Lanka, there is no chance that Laos will default on its external debt obligations. China, its largest creditor and politicalally,\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/asia\/2022\/06\/30\/will-laos-default-on-its-debt?fbclid=IwAR1ghORJ3wBRyDFzZrpYOGvtzXIhmaBrSsQPNsC8QsmPyUk-SbfWSwDfpJc\">will not let Laos default<\/a>. Strong China\u2013Laos relations mean that the debt trap narrative is not accurate.
