Japan and the European Union (EU) are mutually cooperating to improve the international environment through economic and strategic partnership agreements. The most recent attempt to this end is a program to strengthen strategic communications between Japan and the EU under the\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/expertisefrance.fr\/en\/fiche-projet?id=861449\">Enhancing EU Security Cooperation in and with Asia (ESIWA)<\/a>\u201d project. The ESIWA project supported the establishment in June 2022 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pp.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/sceru\/\">Strategic Communications Education and Research Unit (SCERU)<\/a> at GraSPP.
