Some argue for China\u2019s potential as the world\u2019s second largest economy and hope for successful reforms to address various challenges. The others are skeptical about the success of reform efforts and talk about crisis scenarios. \nMr. Ichiro Otani joined the IMF in 1969 as an economist. He spent years in IMF\u2019s Research Department, Asia and Pacific Department and Institute. Mr. Otani served as Division Chief in the Asia and Pacific Department and then as Head of IMF Office in China before retiring in 2003.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
